The Two New Summer Reads

I'm trying to hard to get back into reading

I thought I would do this quick little blog post to give you an update on how I'm doing with my mini reading challenge. Here's my update: ti's not going very well. I've read eight books so far and I set myself a target of reading thirty by the end of the year. So yeah, I'm doing a pretty pants job at this reading thing but the good thing is, is that I haven't actually given up. I'm still plodding along with reading.

The charity shop is one of the main places were I buy my books, that and Amazon. I love going into charity shops and having a quick browse at the selection of books they have to offer me. It's a great place to pick up books because they're very cheap and the money you pay goes towards helping people.

Whilst at the charity shop, I spotted two books that I've been meaning to buy but just never really got around to doing so. Everything, Everything has been mentioned in Zoella's book club and after reading the blurb and the good reviews I thought I would give it a go and with it being priced at 75p, I couldn't really say no. I also spotted The Sun Is Also A Star which is written by the same author - Nicola Yoon.

One of my guilty pleasures is probably reading teenage romance novels. I don't really know why but I just enjoy reading them. Even as a teenager I use to enjoy reading them and I doubt that I'll ever grow out of reading them, well I probably will, just not any time soon.

I flicked through the chapters of the books and they seem really short which is really ideal for me. Long chapters don't really work with me as I tend to read at night when I'm sleepy and I have to finish the chapter before putting the book down so when they're short and sweet, I can stop reading whenever I want to.

That's all for now so keep an eye out for reviews of these books on my blog!

  1. Ah such a lovely post by the way. It was nice to hear about how your reading challenge is going, and eight books is good!! You were so lucky to spot those Nicola Yoon books in a charity shop, what a bargain! I read some young romance books too, although I’m currently reading The Invitation by Lucy Foley which is aimed at more my own age bracket. I’m really enjoying it actually, its historical fiction, with a bit of glamour and intrigue. I find Goodreads helps with motivation, and you can often find YouTube videos on books! :-) xx

    1. Thank you for your comment! I always find spotting books that I want to read in a charity shop much more satisfying than buying them online! The Invitation sounds interesting, I might go and research it and read the reviews on it! xx

  2. I really need to read Everything Everything and I've read 28 books so far this year, I've set myself the challenge of 45... *fingers crossed* we both complete them! x

    1. Thank you for your comment! I doubt that I'll be able to complete mine but I reckon you can smash your challenge! xx
