Gone Girl | Halfway Review

It's one of those books that you won't want to put down

I've been reading this book for a good few months now and I'm pretty much halfway through this book now (I know, it takes me forever to read these days) so I thought I would give it a halfway review.

I picked this book up a while in a charity shop for about £1.50 and I've heard good reviews about the book as well as the film which I plan on watching after the I've read the book.

This book, I suppose can become a bit confusing because each chapter is a different time and also a different character as it switches between Nick and Amy who are a married couple and from what I know already Amy has gone missing and Nick has no idea where she's gone. Reading a book which has chapters that goes back and forth between the characters can be on the confusing side if you're a bit like me and read a book, then leave it for months and then come back to it and have no idea where you are in the book. Having said that, the first few chapters are a bit slow but once it gets going, at the end of each chapter, it's pretty much a cliffhanger which means you have to carry on reading.

Each chapter from the past kinda gives you a clue as to why SPOILER ALERT the marriage sort of breaks down and the pair of them end up sorting of despising one another and I sort of have mixed emotions towards them both. I started feeling sorry for Nick but then as I kept reading, my feelings towards him changed and I'm not his biggest fan, I'll admit. Amy on the other hand I'm not so sure about, I have a neutral feeling towards her at the moment but I feel like it's going to change soon.

I can't really give much else away about this book because number one, I haven't read it all and number two, because I don't want to spoil it. My advice for this book is to just keep going. At first,I did seem a bit uninterested in it and wondered why it had been so highly praised but once you get going, the story and the mystery really kicks off and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I give it another two months though before I actually finish it though, ha. I feel like I don't really get any time for myself now so don't get the time to read anything now - other than blog posts that is!
