Reasons Why I'm Bad At Being An Adult

Thursday, 2 March 2017

I turned 22 not long ago, and I know a lot of people say it but, I don't really feel (or even act sometimes) my age. Sometimes I remind myself that I can legally drive and drink (not at the same time though...) oh and I can vote as well. Every now and then I will just randomly think: "oh, I'm 22, I'm actually classed as a full time adult!" But I don't really act like one to be fair, so I thought it would be kinda funny to write down a few reasons as to why I really and truly suck at being an adult.

Reason one: I eat like a child.
I don't mean to say that I eat with my hands and have to wear a bib when eating a meal but I don't really make proper meals for myself. Some nights I do but then other times I just throw everything into the oven because I fancy it. For example, the other night I just ate a garlic bread baguette and some onion rings. That's it. It was delicious mind you.

Reason two: I'm still not keen on having to make appointments at the doctors.
Thankfully I haven't been to my GP in God knows how long but the thought of having to make my own appointment puts me off a little bit. I think the main reason why I don't like the idea of having to make my own appointment is because I'm scared of wasting everyone's time. I don't really want to go to the doctors if I have a rash on my arm or whatever when I can just go to the chemist instead and have her/him recommend me something for it.

Reason three: I still really like Disney films and will go to the cinema to see them.
I love Disney films, I grew up with them so I feel like being a 90's kid, I will never grow old of them. My two personal favourites are probably Pocahontas and Hercules. Bless my soul. I don't own many on DVD because they are pretty expensive but when I see them in the charity shops, I most definitely will pick them up.

Reason four: I still get a tiny bit disheartened when I see how much tax/NHS I pay.

Reason five: I still find it hard to keep my bedroom looking tidy.
Yep, if you walked into my bedroom some days, you'd think that you've just walked into a 13 year old's room but nope, you've actually just walked into a 22 year old's room. I am getting better at it to be fair, my room is just over flowing with things that I don't really use any more.

Reason five: I still have a soft spot for 5SOS.
They are my guilty pleasure and I feel like I can only get away with liking them because one of them is older than me, You know when you're getting older when there's famous bands that are a lot younger than you. I consider myself old because I have no idea who's in the charts anymore. Not unless it's Ed Sheeran, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, big names like that. Other than that, I literally have no idea who is actually in the charts anymore.

Reason six: I really, really, really don't like calling in sick at work.
I've only had to do it once and I hated it. It felt like I had committed a terrible crime and felt like everyone was judging me which was stupid because I was genuinely ill that day. Maybe next time I'll ask my mum if she can call in sick for me....

Reason seven: I still bloody love McDonalds and don't care how bad it is for me.
Sometimes after finishing an 8 or 7 hour shift, the only thing that I want after work is McDonalds, God the fries are so good there. I could just sit in a bath tub of their fries and eat them all day long. Oh and I love the quarter pounders and big macs. Yum. My mouth is watering as I write this.

Reason eight: I still don't know what I want to be when I'm older.
This question had been with me for a good few years now, quite possible eight years because at the age of 14 I had to choose what I wanted to do in life because I had to choose what GCSE's I wanted to do. Seems pretty harsh thinking back to it. I remember being sat in the library with everyone in my year whilst the teachers kept banging on about what GCSE's we needed to do. I'm very glad that my educational years are over and done with now.
