The Zoeva Eye Shadow Palette

Saturday, 14 January 2017

If you asked me a year ago today "what's your favourite type of makeup product?" I would of stated that mascara was my favourite type of makeup product and whilst I still love mascara, I have to say that I'm really enjoying eye shadow at the moment. I guess it's because you have a lot of variety with eye shadow palettes and can create so many looks with just one single palette. I thought I would treat myself a good few months ago and splash out on a decent eye shadow palette, it took me a while to decide which one because I wanted eye shadow colours that had a lot of either goldish looking colours or neutral colours as I find that these colours are pretty safe to use with my blue eyes.

In the end, I decided to go with the Rose Golden palette from Zoeva and it did take a while to arrive but I was blown away by the colours, quality and pigmentation of each of the shades.

From top left to right: Luster and Reflective Elegance
Bottom left to right: Foil and Just a Rose

My camera and my ever so poor 'photography skills' haven't done this palette any justice because they truly are beautiful. Luster is the type of shade that you would wear on a day to day basis whilst Just a Rose is more of a 'special occasion' type of shade because this really compliments my eye colour. I've also started to blend in Foil with Luster as I find the two compliment each other  - I use Luster all over my eyelid and then apply Foil in the crease.

Top left to right: Copper is Kind, Shining Bright and Rusty Petals
Bottom left to right: Golden Rule, Harmony and Wonder Full

The four shades on the right are the one that I haven't really experimented with, I feel like you would need to be a bit of a pro to use these shades and to be honest, I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to makeup - especially eye makeup.

Golden Rule is one of my favourite shades and again, it's one of those shades that I would wear for special occasions and out of all the shades this probably compliments my eye colour the most. I also feel like Copper is King is an eye shadow that you wouldn't wear on a day to day basis (or you might do, I just think it's a little out there for work.)

Out of the 10 shades, you are given 3 matte shades that you could probably use on a day to day basis and the rest are a bit more out there. When I look at this palette I do get a bit of a Autumn feeling because all the tones are very warm and neutral. I tend to associate summer/spring colours that have a bold feeling to it. The three matte shades are the ones were you probably would need to apply a little bit more as the colour pay off isn't as good as the metallic shades -but don't get me wrong, seeing as I'm pretty much a beginner when it comes to makeup I'm okay with this because it will mean I won't be applying too much of a dark shade on my eyelid. When it comes to the metallic shades you only need a few brushes on your eye lids and you're pretty much good to go as the pay off is amazing with these shades.

Another great thing about this palette is that you don't get a lot of fall out with each of the shades. There's also no excess of the eye shadow on your bush that you need to get rid of before applying so you can apply this makeup in your best clothes without having some of the eye shadow going all over your clothes!

This palette is currently retailed at £17.50 on the Zoeva website and I do think that it is fairly priced. The colour pay off is amazing with some of the shades and still good with the ones that you need to apply a bit more off, the pigmentation is out of this world and the quality is outstanding. If you're a beginnger like me when it comes to eye makeup then I would highly suggest a Zoeva makeup palette, I can honestly say that you won't be disappointed!
